I was born in Rabat, Malta in 1981.
Throughout my childhood I always diplayed an artistic talent. I loved to draw and was very creative.
My younger brother Meshach and I would spend many hours on our bicycles exploring the little island in the Mediterranean. I have many fond memories of my childhood and the place where I grew up. The Mediterranean fuels my appetite for inspiration and creativity.
From the age of six, you could find me on the weekends in the workshop of Malta’s National Sculptor – Anton Agius. Mr Agius’s work is well known throughout Continental Europe and I have inherited this great man’s passion for carving olive wood.
Determined to be an artist, I went on to study in Malta’s National School of Art in Valletta, and the Targa Gap college of Art and Crafts in Mosta. It was there that I continued to develop a love for painting using oil on canvas.
Of all my subjects, the female form remains my forte and many find delight in them.
I enjoy living in the Mediterranean countryside of Coin, surrounded by beautiful age-old olive groves.
Each piece of seasoned olive wood I choose for a sculpture is first patiently observed for inspriation and rather than change the form of the trunk or root, I use the natural curves and shapes to guide what I carve in the sculpture. This magically revives the wood into a stunning piece of artwork which, combined with my artistic touch, sensitiveness and the natural beauty of olive wood, has lead me to be considered as "Natures Companion" breathing life back into this precious wood.
My artwork has been sold and exhibited in the United Kingdom, Germany, Malta, Spain, America and Canada.
